Question 11- He was so rude to the prison staff that he had his prison sentence extended for bad behaviour . 2 - The prisoners must spend twenty-two hours a day in their cells . 3 - Writing letters to convicts can be dangerous. 4 - In the US, some criminals remain on death row for years before they are executed. 5 - As the prisoner had been exemplary for many years, the judge decided to shorten his time in prison by giving him an early release . 6 - The prisoners have escaped through the prison fence without raising the alarm. 7 - The day the prisoner was released, his wife was waiting for him at the gate . 8 – That man has killed an innocent old lady. This heinous crime mustn’t go unpunished. 9 – Epidemics in prisons are spreading very quickly because there’s serious overcrowding . 10 – Jim hopes to get parole for good behaviour. He might be able to go home, to his family. 11 - Many ex-convicts re-offend within a year of their release and get back to prison. 12 - The guard reported his concerns about the nervousness prisoners to the warden . 13 - They put him in solitary for his own protection and to give him time to calm down. 14 - The guards had a clear view of the prison entrance from the watchtower . 15 - Prisoners are granted some recreation time in the prison yard . 16 - Police took the suspect into custody immediately. They can keep him for 48 hours at the police station. 17 - Prisoners do not have proper beds, they sleep on bunks , two or three in the same cell, one on top of the other.
